For the past one year the Junior High School in Atodar village has remained shut after its only teacher was transferred to another school. The children of the village depend on a tutor who comes from a neighbouring village.
Their parents, daily wage workers, can barely manage to pay the tutor's fee of of INR 200 a month. By law, they shouldn't have to shell out money for their children's education. The Right to Education Act 2009 guarantees all children between the ages 6 and 14 free education at government schools.
